Subjectivity

Subjectivity

"I had a dream last night," Hamun told Giben, "in which I was terrified by a hideous dragon. What do you think it means?"
"Do a drawing of the dragon," said Giben, "and bring it to me."
Later Hamun brought a drawing of the dragon and showed it to Giben.
"This is excellent!" exclaimed Giben, holding the drawing upside-down as he examined it carefully. "The draftsmanship is exquisite; but it doesn't seem hideous or terrifying to me."
"Of course not," said Hamun crossly, "if you look at it like that. You must turn it up the other way."
"Ah, I see," said Giben. "You looked at it the other way because you wished to be terrified!"
