In times of crisis
unavoidable distinctions
create imaginary categories -
christian, muslim, black, white, gay, straight -
and ever after our very belief in them
strengthens their invented membranes
till these become our reality:
dividing us from our kin,
convincing us, falsely,
of original sin.
