Grist to the Mill

In the name of god
despairing humanity
murders and maims,
imprisons and tames.
Human and animal,
plant and mineral,
all are vulnerable
grist to the mill.
But when will we learn
that god is in everything?
In all who are murdered,
and all who are maimed,
in all imprisoned,
and all who are tamed,
and even - yes - in all who kill.
